Think about all that your feet do for you. They carry through each and every day of your life. The least you can do is to take care of them well and pamper them a bit. Since they have such a rough and busy job, your feet can get ragged and tired quickly. Show them a little tender, loving care and you’ll see them blossom.
Try these 6 things to keep your feet in wonderful shape:
#1. Avoid extra moisture
Allowing your feet to collect moisture and stay that way can lead to fungus growing. You want to be sure that they are kept dry and clean. Here are a few ways you can do this:
Wear shoes and socks that are designed to let your feet get air.
Try not to wear the same shoes for too many days.
Dry your feet properly after bathing.
#2. Cut your nails correctly
It seems like a simple and straightforward process, but cutting your nails the wrong way can actually lead to issues like ingrown toenails, which are painful and can cause infection.
Cut nails straight. The corners do not need to be round.
Cut only what’s necessary. If your toenails are too short, it can lead to issues.
Avoid cutting cuticles, push them down instead.
#3. Tend to your toenails
When you notice that something is off with your feet, such as an ingrown toenail, you need to deal with it accordingly. Try this method:
Mix warm water with salt and soak your feet for around twenty minutes.
Use floss to raise your nail up a bit.
Apply antiseptic to the area and cover with a bandage for protection.
Use this method every day until your toe feels better.
#4. Practice foot soaking
Using a relaxing foot soak once a week will help keep your feet soft and healthy, not to mention that you’ll feel less stressed and probably sleep better, as well. You can make unique foot soaks using many ingredients like essential oils and baking soda. Take advantage of the effects of your soak and file your feet to exfoliate them afterwards.
#5. Keep them moisturized
Just as you apply lotion to other areas of your body daily, your feet need to be moisturized, as well. You can use the same product you use for your body or find one specifically for your feet. Make sure that you don’t apply any cream or lotion in between your toes because it can cause fungus.
#6. Rub them well
There are many benefits to massaging your feet including better circulation and stress relief. Formal deep hand massage isn’t the only way to reap these effects. You can also use a small ball and roll it between your toes and your heel for the massage effect.
Take good care of your feet as payback for all they help you with.
