You’ve probably heard a lot about the fad of eating clean for 30 days at a time. The reason it’s so popular is because this amount of time is perfect for forming habits. So if you’re looking to transition into a lifestyle change, taking up a 30-day challenge is a great way to go. That doesn’t make it any easier, however, which is why you’ll need to prepare yourself and think of what you can do to get through the month.
Here are 10 tips that will help you make it through your 30-day clean eating challenge:
#1 Choose Fresh Fruits: whenever possible, it’s better to choose, whole and fresh fruits. Buying and using fruits whole allows you to benefit from their full range of nutrients.
#2 Eat Whole Grains: let go of your attachment to refined white rice, flour, and bread. They do nothing for you nutrition wise and actually drain you of energy. Instead, stick with only whole grains like quinoa and brown rice.
#3 Use Maximum 5 Ingredients: when it comes to recipes, the simpler the better. First off, look at the list of ingredients, how many are there? If there are more than 5, move on to another recipe. Once you find some recipes with 5 or less ingredients, read through the lists and make sure that you actually know and can pronounce each ingredient’s name!
#4 Would You Find it at the Store?: if you find yourself considering buying packaged foods, go by this rule of thumb. Read the ingredients list and uncover whether you would be able to find each individual ingredient on its own in your supermarket. If not, then it’s probably not fit for healthy consumption.

#7 Hydration is Key: water makes a big difference when it comes to getting through a diet transition because it helps keep you full. Drink at least six to eight glasses of water each day to be sure that you don’t mistake thirst for hunger.
#8 Eat Smaller Portions More Often: the typical 3 meal routine isn’t fit for everyone, especially during a clean eating detox. You’ll feel much more energetic and fulfilled if you eat more times throughout the day. That means you’ll need to make your portions smaller.
#9 Vegetable Overload: you can never eat too many vegetables. While you’re eating clean, you may feel hungry. If you have access to fresh vegetables at all times, there will be no need to let hunger eat away at you.
#10 Cook for Yourself: your 30-day clean eating challenge will change your eating habits and leave you with a heavier wallet. It is much better to cook for yourself at home because you will have control over each ingredient and the amount used. Not to mention it’s an exercise in creativity.
