#1 Massage with Thumbs and Palms
Rest your hands on your lower back, above pelvis.
Rub area towards pelvis and downwards with hands and thumbs.
Move to waist and muscles surrounding spine.
#2 Apply Pressure with Knuckles
Lie flat on back with feet on ground, knees up.
Hands on floor under lower back, in fists, palms down.
Stay there for one minute.
Move into fetal position before sitting up.
#3 Massage with Tennis Balls
Put two tennis balls wrapped in towel or sock.
Sit with feet flat, knees bent, tennis balls behind you.
Lean back until pained area of back rests on balls.
Move balls to different pained areas.
Go into fetal position before sitting up.
#4 Specific Stretches
Sit with legs straight out in front of you.
Bring one knee, bent, into chest, and hold for at least ten seconds.
Switch sides and repeat.
Lie flat on back, lift legs up, with knees bent.
Put back down and repeat 5 repetitions.
Flat on back, one knee bent to chest, hold for ten seconds.
