#1. Quit tobacco consumption – smoking is linked with high number of serious diseases, including cancer. And it's not only about lungs. Tobacco use increases your risks of developing mouth, throat, cervical, bladder and kidney neoplasms.
#2. Maintain optimal weight – your excessive kilos can play a great role in cancer occurrence. It was found that those, who are overweight or obese, have much higher risks of experiencing breast cancer. That's why it's important to keep your weight under the control, if you want to stay healthy.
#3. Limit alcohol – OK, one glass of wine can be really beneficial for your heart and vessels. But be aware that drinking more is associated with elevated risks of mouth, larynx, esophagus and liver cancers.

#4. Perform exercises – regular physical activity can help you stay lean and prevent wide variety of health issues, including cancer. The American Cancer Society advises exercise not less than 150 minutes a week in moderate intensity or perform at least 75 minutes of vigorous exercises each week.
#5. Follow healthy diet – it's the best option to lose excessive weight, prevent heart disease and reduce risks of malignancy. Try to stay off processed meat and refined sugars. Add more fruits, vegetables, cereals, nuts, legumes, and don't forget about healthy fat, found in olive oil and fish.
#6. Protect your skin from excessive UV – skin cancer is the most widespread malignancy in the US. However it's completely possible to prevent it, protecting yourself from sun damage. Stay in the shade, especially in the mid-day, wear hat, sunglasses and protective clothes, use sunscreen and stay off tanning beds.
#7. Talk about immunization – protect yourself from viral infection, which have a close link with increased risks of cancer. Ask your doctor about immunization against hepatitis B, associated with liver neoplasm, and human papillomavirus, which can lead to cancer of the reproductive organs.
#8. Test your home for radon – radon is a transparent, odorless gas, often found in the environment. Too high levels of this radioactive chemical is related to 16% higher risks of getting lung cancer.
#9. Get screenings – specialists didn't reach a consensus about effectiveness of self-examination and screenings in early cancer detection. However it might be better to check up all changes in your body and ask your doctor about the best screening tests, depending on your medical and family history.
