#1. Red meat – several studies found that eating more than 70g of pork, lamb, beef or goat is associated with higher risks of colon cancer. These risks are even higher in those, who cook red meat at high temperatures. The reason is that it triggers creation of the substances called heterocyclic amines, which can raise chances of colon and rectal cancer. By the way, these two malignancies often occur together in the human's body.
#2. High-sugar foods – according to the Harvard Medical School researches, people, who take too much of foods with high glycemic index, have more chances of getting colon cancer. Glycemic index is a value, which shows, how can certain foods increase blood glucose levels. You may be surprised that fruit juice, granola, iced tea and even sports drinks can lead to blood sugar spikes, raising your risks of type 2 diabetes, colon neoplasm and some other diseases.
#3. Processed meat – if you prefer eating sausages, ham, bacon and deli meats every day, we have bad news for you. All these processed meats are preserved by salting, smoking or curing that elevates your risks of some cancers, including colon neoplasm.
#4. Packaged cookies, fried products, chips etc. – trans fats can not only add extra centimeters to your waistline, but also trigger abnormal cells growing in the colon.
Substitute all saturated and trans fats in your daily menu by health-friendly unsaturated fats, found in avocados, salmon, mackerel, nuts and olive oil. Don't forget to add more fiber from cereals, fruits and vegetables to your ration, in order to prevent high number of health issues, including colon cancer.
