Who is Susan Boyle? This awesome woman opened her talent to the whole world on British TV’s Britain’s Got Talent in April 2009. She sang “I Dreamed a Dream” that won millions of people's hearts. If you have not heard Susan’s voice, you must listen to her songs! Over the past three years, Susan has become even more popular due to her weight loss story. She lost more than 2 stones! What is the secret of her weight loss? Why did she decide to get rid of extra pounds? Susan Boyle carefully concealed this information, but some investigation has revealed that there were 3 steps to her success. Let's look at these 3 steps!

#1. “I needed to stop eating sweets and cakes. It’s the bane of my life. I had to lose the weight for my health”, said Susan Boyle. As you can see, her first step was to cut out sweet snacks.

#2. This woman had to stick to a sugar-free diet for health reasons. The thing is, Susan was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in 2013. Doctors ordered her to lose weight for the sake of her health.

#3. Susan did not exercise at the gym. She preferred a daily 2-mile walk. Every day she walked to her local Tesco store and home again. She had a desire and motivation!

As we said before, Susan Boyle adhered to a sugar-free diet. This diet is recommended for patients with type 2 diabetes. However, people who want to live more healthily and lose extra pounds can stick to this diet too. By cutting out foods with added sugar and sticking to mostly unprocessed foods, as close to their natural state as possible, it is easy to use this type of diet to achieve the same weight loss success that Susan Boyle has obtained.

“People can put diabetes into remission or reverse its course if they lose weight … In my research, I’ve found that when people lose 7 percent of their body weight, their insulin sensitivity improves by 57 percent. That is better than taking two medications for diabetes at the maximum dose”, says Dr Osama Hamdy, M.D. PhD who works at Joslin Diabetes Centre, Boston, as Medical Director of their Obesity Clinical Program.

He provides meal plans based on 1200 calories per day for women, 1500 calories per day for men and women and 1800 calories per day for men.

#1. Drinks

If you want to lose those extra pounds, you must reduce your sugar intake. We recommend you drink plenty of water. If you are not a water lover, you can make it more interesting, with a slice of lemon, lime or a few berries added to it. Drinking tea or coffee, you shouldn't add sugar!

#2. Snacks

If you need to snack between meals, we recommend you pay attention to healthy foods like nuts, raisins, plain popcorn and sugar-free crackers. Another great snack option is Greek Yogurt. You can make it more interesting with some chopped, fresh fruit, or some hummus with some sticks of carrot, celery and so on.

#3. Eating out

When you eat in a restaurant or cafe, you must be careful, because some dishes can contain a huge amount of sugar. So, you need to avoid marinated meats, gravies, glazes, dips and broths!
