As women, our menstrual cycles are something we simply become accustomed to over time. However, you still need to make sure that you are paying close attention to exactly what is happening in your body and with your cycle.
While some changes in your cycle may be normal, others could be indications of more serious issues. These 6 menstrual problems should never be ignored:
#1. PMS Intensity
If you have certain health conditions like depression or even asthma, you may have noticed that the symptoms of your condition can worsen leading up to your period. This is because, as you know, your hormones are getting thrown out of whack. You don’t need to simply suffer through the increase in these symptoms, however. Your doctor will likely be able to help you deal with boosts in healthy and safe ways.
#2. Uncontrollable PMS Symptoms
PMS is normal to a certain extent, and then it simply is not. If you feel that your PMS symptoms are out of control, you should see a doctor. There is no reason that you should deal with feeling out of control, super depressed or anxious, or extra angry. You may just need to manage your hormones with an anti-depressant so see your doctor.
#3. Extra Long Periods or Too Much Bleeding
Do you find yourself needing to change your pad or tampon each hour throughout the day? If so, this is more bleeding than normal, and be a sign of something more serious. Also, your period should never last longer than 10 days, if it does, get to a doctor right away.
#4. Bleeding Out of Pattern
You know how your cycle runs. When you notice any type of abnormal bleeding in between periods, don’t just wait it out and see if it passes. Get to your doctor, report your symptoms so you can make sure everything is going well.
#5. Sudden Onset of Severe Cramps
You know that cramps are a normal part of every woman’s period, however the intensity should never be so high that you are in unbearable pain. If this is the case for you every month, you could have endometriosis.
#6. Lack of Menstruation
If you’re not pregnant and you’ve missed two or more periods in a row, then you want to get checked out by your doctor. The absence of your period without cause can be a sign of various health issues including problems with your thyroid or hormonal imbalance.
Stay on top of your menstrual health and don’t ignore any of these potentially dangerous signs.
