If the level of uric acid is too high in your blood, it can lead to the appearance of such common diseases as arthritis or gout. You need to carefully monitor your diet and to take appropriate medications to prevent gout or arthritis.
You should limit the consumption of alcohol, sugar and food, rich in purine, such as legumes, seafood, poultry and meat. You should avoid eating the following vegetables: mushrooms, peas, spinach, asparagus and cauliflower. They also have a high purine content.
After mastering the purine, uric acid begins to form. In people suffering from gout, the purine is not excreted, it accumulates and circulates in the bloodstream, causing inflammation of the joints and pain. Here is a list of foods recommended for use to maintain the proper level of uric acid in the body:
#1. Water. Those who suffer from gout should drink as much water as possible throughout the day. Water does not only prevent dehydration of the body, but also removes toxins from it. Drink 10 to 12 glasses of water every day.
#2. Cherries and berries. Cherry has an anti-inflammatory substance - anthocyanin, which lowers the level of uric acid and prevents the formation of crystals.
#3. Lime. It contains citric acid. This is a natural solvent of uric acid.
#4. Apples. They contain malic acid, which neutralizes the milk acid.
#5. Green tea. You should drink green tea regularly to prevent the accumulation of excess uric acid in the blood.
#6. Alkaline foods. Such foods create an acidic environment to neutralize uric acid. They are tomatoes, cucumbers and broccoli.
#7. Omega-3 Fatty Acids. They reduce inflammation and relieve swelling in patients with gout. You should eat more fish, nuts and flax seed.
#8. Olive oil. It contains a large amount of antioxidants.
#9. Vitamin C. It promotes the disintegration of uric acid and excretion of it with urine.
#10. Fiber. Fiber absorbs uric acid, helping the kidneys to remove it.
