A long time has passed since the divorce was a rarity and was discussed as a big scandal. In our modern world, divorce is no longer surprising. During recent decades, social psychology has developed a strong interest in the problem of conflict in the family.
Live Science cites research data according to which those married couples in which husbands did not like close friends of their wives were inclined to divorce within 1-2 years of marriage. The researchers interviewed married people for two years to reveal the patterns.
In particular, in the first year they were asked how many friends of their wife (their husband) they could call for help in a critical situation, and whether people whom they like to spend time with, even if the spouse is not near are among these friends.
In the second year, the same questions were constructed in a different way. Now the scientists were interested in whether the friends of the wife or husband interfered their family life, and then they learned how happy they felt about their marriage as a whole.

In the end, it turned out that the opinion of husbands about the friends of their wives directly affects whether the couple thinks about divorce. Thus, 70% of the couples in which the husband communicated with his wife's friends were still married 16 years later.
At the same time only 50% of couples where the husband was not delighted with the environment of his beloved woman remained married. It is interesting that the attitude of the wife to her husband's friends did not affect the probability of a divorce.
Social psychologists traditionally consider many friends from each of the spouses as a blessing for marriage, which, among other things, does not allow a man and a woman to spend too much time alone, so they are not boring to each other. However, as it turns out, here there are some pitfalls.
American scientists have can not explain why only the opinion of the husband matters. However, we can assume that this can be because of the tendency of women to share details of their personal (including sexual) life with their close friends.
