Cough is maybe one of the most annoying symptoms, associated with cold, allergy and bronchitis.

In fact, it's a protective mechanism, which is designed to remove phlegm, pollen, smoke and other irritants away from the respiratory tract.

Even though, we usually associate cough with problems in the lungs, sometimes it may occur in those, who suffer from gastroesophageal reflux disease.

It's not uncommon for certain medications to cause cough too.

You've probably heard that cough may be felt differently. Dry cough, caused by viral infection, asthma or smoke, becomes apparent in itchiness in the throat, without any secretions.

In wet cough the lungs and windpipe contain excessive mucus and fluid. Your body creates them as a response to infection and inflammation. In this situation cough promotes expelling sputum from your organism.
