Hygiene is a fundamental factor in health. Many people are irritated by the accumulation of sulfur in the ears. Some people have difficulties to deal with it. However, doctors warn that ears need to cleaned correctly. Most of us use cotton swabs to clean the ears. Doctors are categorically against this method. Even though cotton swabs give a sense of purity and freshness, scientists do not recommend using them.

Cleaning the ears with cotton swabs is a daily ritual of many people. We adhere to this rule of personal hygiene, of course, only for good purposes. However, this is no so. It turns out that cleaning the ears with cotton swabs can inflict colossal and, often, bring harm. Usually earwax is produced only in the outer third of the ear canal, but if it is pushed deeper, it will get on the eardrum.

Such a standard means of personal hygiene, like a cotton swab, instead of scrubbing sulfur from the ear, pushes it deeper into the ear canal, to the eardrum. This can lead to hearing loss. We can poke sulfur even deeper and thereby block the ear canal - the ear will cease to hear. We can hurt this gray eardrum. Then it takes a long treatment by a doctor.

When using cotton swabs, it is easy to injure the skin of the ear canal. Bacteria start growing in the place of the wound - the probability to have otitis is great. There are other unpleasant consequences: ringing in the ears, itching, irritation and inflammation. In case of inaccurate use of cotton swabs, it is possible to perforate the tympanic membrane by accident. This again threatens with hearing loss.

It turns out that sulfur is not dirt, but protection for our ears. It does not allow insects to enter the ear canal. The earwax acts as an antibacterial and antifungal agent, preventing the occurrence of ear infections. It pushes dust, hairs and dead cells away from the inner ear.

Cotton swabs can tear off a delicate protective layer of skin and open the entrance gate for infections, there are a lot of them in the external ear canal (fungi, bacteria). They will penetrate into the tender skin and cause inflammation - otitis.

Scientists have proven that nature has taken care of everything beforehand, including that the human ears are cleaned naturally. While we are eating, the movements of our lower jaw lead to the advance of the earwax to the outer edge of the shell. This is natural cleansing of the ears. Sulfur, which envelops the walls of the auricle deep, is a very important component for the normal functioning of our hearing organs. In addition, such a hated sulfur is a very serious barrier against microbes:

#1. It protects against external contamination (dust, sand, dirt, etc.).

#2. It protects against harmful bacteria and viruses.

#3. It maintains internal skin of the auricles in a healthy, holistic and moistened state.

All attempts to get rid of sulfur alone will not lead to anything good. Your body can clean the ear canal without your intervention. In fact, deep cleaning is not required. The only reason to remove sulfur is the formation of an ear plug, and it should be done by a doctor. To maintain hygiene, flush your ears with soap and water during morning cleansing. After washing your head, pat the outer side of your ear with a towel. Another safe way to clean your ears is to use cotton pads, moisten them with a face tonic or micellar water.

The rule is to clean the ears three times a month. At the same time, it is better to carry out this procedure immediately after the shower, when the wax is vaporized from warm water and it is easy to assemble it with a swab. Wrap more cotton wool on cotton swabs to soften them more. Do not put a swab too deep, do not press on the membranes. Just gently wipe the inside of the ear with a swab.

If you are too much fixated on the purity of the ears, drop some olive oil there, do a soft massage of the cartilage and remove the oil with a swab. These procedures will be quite enough to ensure the cleanliness of the auricles. Note that some packages of cotton buds even have inscriptions: "Do not use in the inner parts of the ear or eyes." The inscriptions are of course made in the smallest font, so as not to lose the client, but try to find them.
