After heart disease, cancer kills the most American women. It is a grim but true fact. Of all the types of cancer, breast cancer is the most prevalent, one out of eight women having to battle it during their lifetime.

There are some things that you cannot change in any way (like the having the BRCA 1 or 2 gene), but there are also some things that you can do to minimize the chance of getting breast cancer (like giving up refined sugars, known as some of the main activators of cancer, exercising more and adopting a nutrient-rich, natural diet).

Take a look at the list below to familiarize yourself with what’s known as the “good food.”

#1. Walnuts

They contain Gamma Tocopherol (which stops the activation of the AKT enzyme, important for the survival of the cancerous cells) and good cholesterol (which helps the body regulate estrogen levels in women and men, and also blocks the breast cancer cells’ estrogen receptors).

Studies have shown that drinking coffee is especially effective in lowering the risk of antiestrogen-resistant estrogen-receptor (ER)-negative breast cancer, probably because the antioxidants in coffee help protect the cells from damage that may later lead to cancer.
